Africa's best authentic tailor-made safaris

Namibia’s dramatic landscapes, remarkable wildlife, and ever-changing light make it one of Africa’s top destinations for photographers. From towering red dunes and vast salt pans to elusive desert-adapted wildlife, the country offers endless opportunities to capture print-worthy images.

Why Should You Go on This Experience?

Inspiration All Around

Capture iconic landscapes like Sossusvlei’s towering dunes and Deadvlei’s ancient, skeletal trees.

Dramatic Wildlife

Photograph desert-adapted wildlife, including elephants, lions, and oryx that thrive in some of Africa’s harshest conditions.

A Unique Coastline

Experience the ethereal beauty of the Skeleton Coast, with its shipwrecks, misty shores, and seal colonies. If you’re lucky, you might even witness lions hunting seals.

Expert Guides

Enjoy expert-guided safaris that help you position for the best shots, with specialised vehicles designed for photographers.

Memories Worth Framing

Shoot stunning astrophotography under Namibia’s crystal-clear night skies, particularly in remote areas like the NamibRand Nature Reserve.

Best Destinations for Photographic Safaris in Namibia

Sossusvlei and Deadvlei

Among Namibia’s most photographed locations, Sossusvlei’s towering red dunes create striking contrasts at sunrise and sunset. Nearby, Deadvlei’s stark white clay pan, dotted with ancient dead trees, offers surreal compositions that look more like paintings than photographs.

Skeleton Coast

Famed worldwide for its ghostly shipwrecks and desolate beauty, the Skeleton Coast is ideal for moody, atmospheric photography. Cape fur seal colonies, desert dunes, and the contrasting textures of sand and sea make for dramatic shots, and there’s always the chance you might spot elusive lions and brown hyenas.

Damaraland

A prime location for photographing Namibia’s desert-adapted elephants and rhinos. The region’s rugged mountains, golden grasslands, and ancient rock engravings at Twyfelfontein add to the visual appeal, blending archaeology into your safari experience.

Five Tips for a Photographic Safari in Namibia

1. Golden Hour is Key

Shoot early in the morning or late in the afternoon for the best light and dramatic shadows, especially on and around sand dunes.

2. Bring the Right Gear

A telephoto lens (at least 300 mm) is essential for photographing wildlife, especially where sightings are sparse, while a wide-angle lens is ideal for landscapes. A sturdy tripod helps with low-light shots.

3. Dust Protection

Namibia’s desert environment can be harsh on cameras. Use a protective cover and clean your gear regularly.

4. Composition Matters

Use leading lines, such as dune ridges or animal trails, to create depth in your shots. Experiment with different perspectives.

5. Take Your Time

The best photos come from patience. Spend time observing animal behaviour and waiting for the right moment.
